About Hyrocele
Hydrocele or dropsy of testicles is a type of swelling in the scrotum that occurs when fluid collects in the thin sheath or sac surrounding a testicle. Hydroceles are most common in babies, Older men can develop hydroceles, sometimes due to inflammation or injury. Hydroceles are usually painless, but may become large and inconvenient. An ultrasound may be required to diagnose the condition. The fluid can be drained easily with a needle and syringe. However, following this procedure, it is common for the sac of the hydrocele to refill with fluid within a few months. For baby boys, hydroceles usually fade away on their own within one year of being born. For men, hydroceles often gradually disappear within six months, depending on the cause. Larger ones may take more time, but shouldn’t go beyond one year without medical intervention
Causes of Hydrocele
The causes can be different:
• The inflammation of the epididymis due to infection.
• Violation of lymphatic drainage and pelvic lymph nodes.
• Scrotum injuries.
• Severe heart failure.
• Complications after varicocele operation.
