About Dysmenorrhea: Painful menstruation termed as Dysmenorrhea is a condition in which a lady has crampy lower abdominal pain, sharp, spasmodic pain that comes and goes. Painful cramps may occur immediately before or during the menstrual period. This pain is usually not related to any specific problem in uterus or other pelvic organs. Its usual onset occurs around the time that menstruation begins and caused by uterine contractions. . Symptoms typically last less than three days. The pain is usually in the pelvis or lower abdomen. Primary dysmenorrhea refers to common menstrual cramps, while secondary dysmenorrhea results from a disorder in the reproductive organs. Both types can be treated.
