Medicines for Croupy Cough
- Aconite Nap 30 is a very effective remedy in croup when the cough is dry which tends to be worse at night and after midnight. It is described as a croupy or harsh cough with loud rasping. Along with their dry cough, they will have a dry mouth and shortness of breath. The cough is worse from excitement, talking, lying down, and ice-cold drinks. Mother Tincture Medicines
- Rumex Crispus Q remedy relieves cough triggered by breathing cold air, with a feeling of a scratchy throat, and a tickling above the sternum, between the two collar bones. Touching the throat-pit brings on the cough. Rumex diminishes the secretions of mucous membranes, and at the same time exalts sensibility of the mucous membranes of the larynx and trachea. Its action upon the skin is marked, producing an intense itching.
- Senega Q relieves cough associated with colds, flu, and bronchitis. It has the most striking action on the mucous membrane of the air passages; its chief use has been in chest complaints and asthmatic complaints.
- Sticta Pulmonaria Q is an excellent remedy for dry, hacking cough worse, inspiration. Tracheitis facilitates expectoration. Loose cough in the morning. Pain through the chest from sternum to spiral column. Dry night cough is a keynote, cough dry, worse evening and night, can neither sleep nor lie down, must sit up.
Dosage: In an empty bottle, mix all the above 3 mother tincture medicines in an equal quantity and take 15-20 drops with lukewarm water 3 times a day in chronic cases (Morning-Afternoon-Evening). In acute cases, dosage can be taken every 2 hours.
