First aid advice to treat burns and scalds
1. immediately get the person away from the heat source to stop the burning. cool the burn with cool or lukewarm running water for 20 minutes – don’t use ice, iced water, or any creams or greasy substances
2. remove any clothing near the burn that is not stuck to it., remove any jewellery near the burn if that is easy to do.
3. You may put a thin layer of ointment, such as cantharis ointment or petroleum jelly or aloe vera, on the burn. The ointment does not need to have antibiotics in it. Some antibiotic ointments can cause an allergic reaction. DO NOT use cream, lotion, oil, cortisone, butter, or egg white
